THE SNOW CAME BEFORE CHRISTMAS
One week before Christmas I was awakened by the sound of screeching.
It was still early and apparently someone cleaning something. It really disrupted my sleep. I reluctantly got out of bed and opened the window curtains. Wow. White color enveloped the entire road, grass, and plants. Snow covered roofs of houses, trees, and cars. Although this was not my first snow but this is definitely my first white snow.
Smiling, I remembered the last week of work in the Caribbean.I dreamed about this moment when the work days seemed long and tiring. Impatiently I wanted to pursue the next adventure. My feet really itching to jump on a plane and went far from the place where I lived and worked for more than 10 years. I wanted to feel ‘White Christmas in New York’.
After that, there was no snow until today. This morning I woke up and saw white on the ground. The cold weather hit me on my first day in New York. Days passed and increasingly cooler. A formidable challenge for the people who come from a tropical country like me. As a result, I had the flu for a week.
Lucky I had the opportunity to visit in the United States with a long time, five and a half months. I purposely did not make a hectic schedule. I had time to adjust to the weather and enjoy the winter.
