Stopover, Taiwan, Walking Tour

TAIPEI LAYOVER

On the way home for vacation to Indonesia from New York, I had to layover in Taipei for 12 hours.  The plane landed at 5:15am and left for Surabaya at 6:30 pm. Long enough.

I found out from website Wikipedia ttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visa_requirements_for_Indonesian_citizens, Indonesian can visit without a visa if they have USA Visa. To make it more fun, there is a free tour from Tourism Bureau  http://eng.taiwan.net.tw/tour/index.htm.

After arrived in Taipei and organized administration for the next flight, I breakfasted in the food court while waiting for the opening hours Tourist Service Center. Around 7:30 I went straight to the Tourist Service Center and registered morning tour from 8:00 until 13:00.

The weather was nice, it was not cloudy and not too hot. About 12 people joined in the tour. There were three Indonesian including me and some of the US, Japan and Europe. The first stop in Sanxia, a small town about 22 kilometers from Taipei. The main attraction was Zushi Temple, built in honor of General Chen Chao Ying during the Song Dynasty. Then strolled down Sanxia Old Street, shops and restaurant with Japanese colonial architecture style.

The journey continues to Yingge which has a reputation as a best quality ceramics manufacturer. At first, this area named Yingge Stone Village, which then changed several times and the last was Yingge District of New Taipei City. After that, we visited the ceramics museum New Taipei City Yingge Ceramic Museum. Besides the museum, there is also a ceramics studio as a forum for people who are interested in learning ceramics. Promptly at 1:00 pm we went back to the airport.

Time passed quickly.
